Lindy Rogers
Festival wedding at Coddington Mill, Cheshire
Updated: Sep 21, 2022
One thing I love about being a wedding photographer around Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales is that I get to discover absolutely beautiful little gems in our area. Coddington Mill is definitely one of those places! Set in the idyllic Cheshire countryside, this spot provided the perfect location for a festival themed, laid back, rustic wedding for Jen and Pete.
Pete had surprised Jen by popping the question on a coastal walk in Devon ("I really wasn't dressed for the occasion!" says Jen) and right from the start, they had a clear idea of what they wanted their wedding day to look like- relaxed and focused on love, family and laughter.
They knew that they wanted a really intimate church ceremony with just their closest family present, and then go on to meet the rest of their guests at their festival-tent reception in the countryside. I'd never been to a wedding where it had been done like this, but it worked really well. I thought it was great that Jen and Pete hadn't just gone along with the norm, but thought about what they wanted their day to feel like.
The service at St John's, Great Sutton, was perfect, even if it was delayed for 10 minutes while someone had to race back to collect Jen's forgotten bouquet (I told you she was relaxed!). It was worth the wait though- a gorgeous arrangement incorporating wildflowers that really tied the day together from the talented Floral Oyster.
Afterwards, their arrival at the reception in their VW van was amazing! Huge cheers from the awaiting crowd went up as the newly married couple pulled in, and there was lots of confetti as they walked past the festoon lights and into their festival-style marquee. There was delicious food available from The Flatbread Social and drinks on tap from The Fabulous Fizz Bar, served up from their vintage yellow citroen van!
After mingling with their guests, Jen, Pete and I snook off around the grounds for some couple photos in the orchard (the apple blossoms!!) and around the lake.
Sally and Matt at Coddington Mill have redeveloped their stunning Lakehouse, which you can stay in and enjoy the peaceful tranquility of the lake and ornamental garden, plus it has an outdoor bathtub!! Amazing! Jen and Pete had treated themselves and were staying at the Lakehouse that night, so everything was right on site. How gorgeous is it?!
After some pretty emotional speeches and the cake cut, the evening entertainment kicked off with Mountford playing the tunes. They were fab and the dancefloor was absolutely packed!
Jen and Pete said, "We would highly recommend Lindy. We had the best wedding day and the photos captured the day perfectly. Lindy made us feel so at ease and comfortable, and fitted right into the day. We had a great night looking through all the photos, and loved the light and airy feel to them. Amazing all round!"
It really was an amazing day for everyone; thanks so much, Jen and Pete, for having me there to capture it for you!
