Autumn Days at Dunham Massey
Updated: Jan 31, 2022
I used to feel a bit sad when autumn rolled around....it used to mean the end of summer, darker days, and colder weather. I knew it was some people's favourite season, but I couldn't understand that. Until a few years ago, when I did a 365 photo-a-day project. OK, so I didn't quite manage to do the whole year, but it transformed how I felt about the autumn. Getting out there every day with my camera made me see and appreciate the beauty that is everywhere at this time of the year. The light is just so golden and gorgeous, the colours are vibrant, and yes, there may be a chill in the air, but it just means it's time to get a bit more snuggly! I find myself looking forward to the autumn now. Conker-hunting, leaf-kicking, muddy-puddle-splashing... there are no end of fun things for kids to do outdoors. And while they are having fun, I can capture those special memories without them even noticing that there's a camera there, and with nature putting on a fabulous backdrop. Those are the best type of photos, aren't they? The ones with the little details, the real expressions, the personality, the connections. All wrapped up in a fun day out. If you are anywhere near Cheshire, Liverpool or Manchester, one of the best places you can visit at this time of year is the beautiful Dunham Massey, near Altrincham. Here are some photographs I took there on a sunny autumn day. Enjoy!
