A Stunning Eastnor Castle Wedding
Updated: Nov 18, 2022
Samantha and Alex first got in touch with me way back in 2019 to photograph their wedding, but after covid threw a spanner in the works, they had to reorganise not only the date but the entire location from Anglesey to Ledbury. I have close family in North Wales (where I am from originally) but also in Herefordshire, and regularly shoot weddings in both places, so I was delighted when they told me their new venue- the stunning Eastnor Castle- a truly fairytale setting in this beautiful part of the country.
Eastnor Castle is set within 5,000 acres of parkland, with woodland and lakes, and is nestled at the foot of the Malvern Hills, just outside of the market town of Ledbury. It's an absolutely stunning venue!
Samantha and the mums and bridesmaids were getting ready in one of the beautiful and grand bedroom suites at the castle. It was a lovely, relaxed morning, with baby Isla joining in the fun and excitement. When Sam appeared in her stunning dress, she really did look incredible! Her dad's reaction was enough to cause happy tears from her friends.
Meanwhile, the groom and groomsmen were getting ready at nearby Hillend House- a country house which ticks all the boxes for my dream home (!) which is set on the Eastnor Castle Estate. The weather was already gorgeous, so the guys were enjoying some drinks outside whilst they coaxed their ties and pocket squares into perfection.
The wedding was held in St John the Baptist Church, a pretty stone church just a short walk away in the village of Eastnor. It provided an intimate and beautiful atmosphere for the ceremony, which was a really special service. Sam and Alex walked out as husband and wife to great cheers and lots of confetti!
The guests then strolled back towards the castle- through the gates, along the footpath and through the portcullis archway, to the terrace overlooking the lake. Drinks and canapés were waiting, and a steel band playing in the summer sunshine really set the scene with happy, relaxed vibes! I love capturing candid shots of the guests at this time, and the whole atmosphere with such a wonderful group of people meant that I was able to capture lots of happy faces having a good time!
Sam and Alex are a sociable pair, and had quite a large bridal party made up of their best friends. This wonderful gang not only kept the fun factor happening all day, but looked amazing whilst they did it!
We got some lovely family pictures with baby Isla before it was time for her to go and have a nap, then Sam and Alex had a little wander around the stunning grounds with me to get some couple portraits. There are so many options for amazing photographs at Eastnor Castle, and with such beautiful surroundings and such a gorgeous, lovely couple, I was a very happy photographer!
The wedding breakfast was held in the Great Hall, and to see it dressed with all the flowers and candles- it was just magnificent. Sam and Alex are real foodies, so delicious food was important to them, as well as music and lots of laughter. They managed to incorporate this into their day with the addition of the singing waiters after the speeches. These particular ones were the funniest I'd ever seen- I was crying with laughter behind my camera and my cheeks were aching after their set- and you can see from the photos what a great time all the guests had- singing their lungs out, dancing and laughing! So much fun!
More music was to come, as the band Tru Groove were performing for the evening- and they certainly got everyone up and dancing with their soulful renditions of dancefloor hits! This crowd were ready to party! Sam changed into a sparkly white off the shoulder dress for the evening, which was much easier to dance in!
This epic Eastnor Castle wedding was an absolute blast from start to finish and just so beautiful! Thank you Sam and Alex for having me as your photographer- I loved being a part of your wedding day!
Sam said, "Wow, what can I say! From start to finish, Lindy was phenomenal! Her friendly and positive personality was a pleasure to have at our wedding day and nothing was too much trouble. The photos couldn't be more beautiful, she perfectly captured our special day and we couldn't be more grateful! I would give you 10 stars if I could! Thank you so much Lindy! You are one of a kind!"
